A FRESH appeal has been made to track down a rapist after a woman believes she came across the man who destroyed her life 25 years ago.

An e-fit image has been released by police in connection with a rape in 1991 in Grampian Way, Langley.

The victim, aged 13 at the time, heard footsteps behind her on a day between March 7 and March 14 and was pushed to the ground by a man unknown to her who then raped her.

The woman, now an adult, was walking through Slough Cemetery in Stoke Road at around 9.15am on July 26 this year when a man approached her and made derogatory comments to her. The victim believes this is the same man who raped her in 1991.

The victim, whose identity is protected by law, said: “This has completely destroyed my whole adult life. Coming face to face with him has brought back what happened when I was 13. If anyone can help to identify this man we can get him off our streets.”

At the time of the original offence, the offender was aged approximately 19-years-old, was stocky with broad shoulders, and had dreadlocks down to his chin. He was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a leather jacket.

The incident was reported to police on May, 30 2013 and a thorough investigation took place however no offenders were identified.

The offender is now described as aged in his forties, black, with a shaved head and was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue stonewashed jeans and was wearing sunglasses perched on his head.

Det Sgt Peter Clarke from Maidenhead Force CID, said: “We are releasing this e-fit image of a man who may have information which is significant to our investigation.

“We are issuing it in the hope that a member of the public may recognise him and come forward to police. The victim has had to live with the memory of what happened to her on that day in 1991 for more than 25 years and I hope this new appeal will assist in locating the offender.

Supt Gavin Wong, Local Police Area Commander for Slough, said: “Detectives are investigating this serious offence and are currently working to identify the offender. Despite a thorough investigation being carried out when the rape was reported to police in 2013, the offender has not yet been located but, since the incident in the cemetery when the victim saw the man she believes attacked her, this has provided a new line of enquiry.

“I recognise the recent publicity surrounding a completely separate case in Slough Cemetery has concerned people however I would like to stress this is not being linked to this case and someone has been convicted and sentenced to a custodial sentence in relation to that offence."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
