PUPILS' artwork has been etched into a park as part of an International Day of Peace.

The Slough North Action Project (SNAP), in conjunction with Slough Borough Council, unveiled a mosaic in Baylis Memorial Park on Wednesday.

The artwork, which was designed by students and put together by award winning artist David James, has been positioned at the entrance to the park just off Stoke Poges Lane.

Students from Penn Wood School and Slough and Eton College won a competition to have their designs turned into reality, and it was unveiled in a ceremony in the park.

Annita Baid, chairman of SNAP, said: "It is really wonderful to see so many young people involved in the project for symbols of peace.

"It is really nice that families are starting to use the park and children will be able to create the same memories that I have done.

"It looks fantastic and thank you to everyone who has helped with the project."

The mosaic was unveiled on the United Nations International Day of Peace, in which the world lays down its arms, calls for cease fire and promotes hope and peace across the world, and prayers were said by the town's religious leaders.
