A CULTURE of continuous improvement has been developed according to a children's services chief as a social care trust marks its first anniversary.

Slough Children's Services Trust (SCST) is celebrating one year since it took control of children's services for Slough, and its chief executive Nicola Clemo is pleased with the progress made in supporting children, young people and families in the town.

She said: “It’s been a year since the Trust became operational and in that time the entire workforce has focused on four key themes of improvement - improving quality, learning, workforce and information. We’ve developed a culture of continuous improvement where all staff can thrive and deliver the best possible service across the organisation.

“Our new social work hub model, Safe, Secure Successful has been implemented, enabling us to collaborate and build relationships with the children and families that we support – and we believe our success stems from building trust, and being open and honest in meeting the needs of the children & families of Slough.

“I’d like to thank all the staff for their tireless dedication in helping us to reach the top of the first mountain and for their continued determination as we prepare to ascend the next. The support of all our partners particularly Slough Borough Council in recent months has made all the difference. We are excited about the future.

“The Trust remains committed to supporting vulnerable children, young people and families in Slough by maintaining our momentum of improvement.”

SCST took control of the service in October last year after Slough Borough Council was stripped of it by government following three inadequate Ofsted ratings.

The Trust has also been working with Cornerstone and Fostering Network to provide additional support for developing adoption and fostering services in Slough including the introduction of Mockingbird.

Elaine Simpson Chair to the Board said: “There is still a great deal to be done to ensure the children and families of Slough always receive the services they deserve and we have made a very good start on the journey towards that. With continued enthusiasm, energy and commitment I am sure we will achieve our goals.”
