THE community venture Slough Aspire has planned a jobs fair with a twist at The Curve on Tuesday, October 25.

Job seekers who attend the Town Centre Recruitment Event will be sent out into the town centre where they will see prominent posters advertising vacancies in the windows of participating businesses.

The candidates can then make immediate enquiries with potential interviews on the day or later, rather than sending applications online and waiting as is usually the case.

Fiona Jones, Slough Aspire’s CEO, said: “The whole recruitment process will be face-to-face from the start and quicker for applicants and potential employers.”

Slough Aspire aims to help people in Slough develop their talents and employability skills. The event will be sponsored by Slough Town Centre Partnership, the consortium of businesses, retailers, Thames Valley Police and officers looking to boost the local economy.

Twelve local businesses have already expressed a desire to advertise vacancies they feel will appeal to the people of Slough, including Starbucks, Santander and Marks & Spencer.

On the day participants will also be able to get help with their CVs, receive interview tips and careers advice.

The event will take place from noon to 6pm.
