A road has been branded a “death trap” as residents call for action to be taken after two deaths in just two days.

The A412 Uxbridge Road was the scene of two fatal incidents last week, with a man in his forties killed on Tuesday, October 18 and a 23-year-old woman, named locally as Ayesha Farooq from Slough, killed on Wednesday, October 19.

Residents have called for measures to be introduced on the stretch of road and as we went to press a petition had gained more than 2,000 signatures.

A memorial service for Ms Farooq was held at the Diamond Road Mosque in Slough on Friday, shortly before her funeral in the afternoon. It has been reported that she had only recently married.

A George Green resident, who did not want to be named, has been campaigning for more to be done to increase safety on the road for the past five years.

He said there have been numerous incidents over the last few years, including deaths and buildings being damaged as cars come off the road.

He said: “It is not very pleasant when you see crash after crash. People’s lives are in danger.

“It is very frustrating that the council, and the police, have not done much about it. How many crashes do we need for them to do something?”

“The road and the way it was designed is dangerous anyway. It is a straight stretch with some bends and there are some highs and lows as well.

“People cringe when they go past. They know they have to, but when you drive past it is like a mini graveyard. There are memorials there for the man, and for the woman on the other side.”

Ms Farooq died following a crash at around 7.50pm after her silver Volkswagen Golf collided with a blue Ford Fiesta and a lorry.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Ford, a man in his twenties, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington after suffering “life changing injuries”.

That incident came just over 24 hours after the man in his forties died near to the junction with Black Park Road at around 11am after his motorbike left the road. He is yet to be named.

Bucks County Council cabinet member for transport, Cllr Mark Shaw, said: “A number of changes have been made along the A412 to improve road safety, and following a full police investigation we will know more on the cause of these two tragic accidents to determine what safety measures may be needed to prevent future collisions of this type occurring.”

The petition is calling for the introduction of traffic lights at the Black Park Road junction, and residents have also called for a series of roundabouts.
