OLYMPIC gold medal winning hockey star Hannah Macleod is set to attend the 2016 Get Berkshire Active Awards.

Macleod, who was a part of the Great Britain hockey squad at the Rio Olympics, will be joining a number of sports stars, coaches, volunteers and schools on Friday February 10 at the Hilton Hotel, Reading.

The Get Berkshire Active Awards celebrates athletes who have achieved great things over the last year, as well as the coach and volunteers behind the scenes who make sure this can happen.

The awards also celebrate active workplaces and health projects that have been successful in the last year.

There are 12 award categories in the Get Berkshire Active Awards this year. New categories for primary and secondary schools will ensure that the fifth annual awards ceremony is the biggest to date.

Nominations are still open to the public and Macleod has encouraged people to nominate. She said: “The Get Berkshire Active Awards have been rewarding local people for five years now. They are a great celebration of the hard work and commitment that goes into sport locally every single day.

“If you know of anybody who deserves recognition I encourage you to take a little time out of your day to nominate them.”

Further information and award criteria can be found at getberkshireactive.org/awards. Nominations close on Friday November 18.
