POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a heartless burglary after a charity donations box was stolen from a library.
Thames Valley Police say an offender gained entry to Burnham Library in Windsor Lane, Burnham on Sunday November 20, by smashing in part of a glass door and climbing through.
The incident happened between 10.20pm and 10.30pm and a green charity collection pot labelled Friends of Burnham Library and containing cash was stolen from under the front desk in the main section of the library.
The assailant was wearing a dark hooded top.
This is the second such crime at Burnham Library in just one month.
Investigating Officer PC Emma Calow, of Amersham Police Station, said: “Charity collection pots containing cash were also stolen on 27 October at around 12.10am. On that occasion entry was gained through a different door but also by breaking glass in the bottom panel."
