A COUPLE continued their Christmas tradition of switching on the exuberant lights display at their home and using the event to raise money for charity.

The display at number 28 Berry Field, Slough, which includes Christmas trees, snowmen, artificial snow and of course plenty of lights, is put on annually by Christine and Andy Paris and is becoming increasingly popular.

The lights were switched on on Saturday November 26, with Santa Claus providing kids with presents from his grotto in the garden and a bar set up.

There was also a special visit from Disney character Elsa from the film Frozen as well as others dressed as snowmen.

Astonishingly, around 90 people turned out to the domestic switch-on, including 30 children, and the evening raised around £550 for motor neuron disease treatment at Wexham Park Hospital, where Christine has worked for the past five years.

That is a £100 rise in donations from the year before, proving the increasing popularity of the Paris’ event.

This is the twelfth year Christine and Andy have hosted the event, and the second year that they have used it to raise money for charity.

This year was the first time that the back garden was also opened up to the rising number of visitors and the space was used for the makeshift Santa’s grotto.

Christine said: “People enjoy the display and said we should open up the back of the house as well.

“It’s attracting me and more people each year.”

However, the Christmas fun will not end after the day as the display will be there right up until the end of January, so there is plenty of time to make the most of the festive exhibition.
