THE CONTRACT wrangle over a temporary ice rink in Slough is finally over, the council has claimed.
Slough Borough Council have announced that they have reached an agreement with the provider, revealed to be The Ice Rink Company, over the temporary rink that will act as a stopgap while Slough Ice Rink is under refurbishment until December 2017.
The town’s rink shut at the end of October and the temporary ice rink had been promised in November. But the the date was pushed back to December 17, following difficulties with the contract, before last week it was revealed that not even this date would be met.
But the new contract was agreed and signed on Friday, December 9, the council said.
However, no date has yet been set for the temporary rink’s completion and the council confirmed on Tuesday that it will not be ready before the end of the year.
The council said that an assessment is being made on how quickly the temporary facility can be built and operational.
