A FIVE-year-old child was treated for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire in Langley last night.

Firefighters from Langley Fire Station were called to the scene on Fox Road, Langley, at about 9.30pm last night.

The blaze was caused by an item of clothing lying under a cupboard being too close to an electrical outlet.

South Central Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.

A woman in her twenties and a five-year-old child were treated for smoke inhalation by the fire services before being passed on to paramedics.

They did not require hospital treatment.

The Langley team were on the scene for 45 minutes with one fire engine as they doused the fire and cleared the house of smoke.

Support was provided by one engine from Slough.

Once the house was cleared, the firefighters fitted smoke alarms in the house and a spokesman urged the public to test their smoke alarms as the new year begins.
