A GROUP of footballers delivered presents and Christmas cheer to youngsters who had to spend the festive period in hospital.

Slough Town FC players and staff visited the children’s and oncology wards respectively at Wexham Park Hospital on Thursday, December 22 to put a smile on the faces of the brave children.

This was the culmination of the football club’s Christmas toy appeal, where the club had asked supporters and Slough businesses to donate toys for the players to deliver to the children spending their Christmas in the hospital.

Joint manager Jon Underwood, club physio Kevin McGoldrick and academy coach Mark Betts all visited the hospital, along with players James Dobson, Gavin James, Josh Jackman, Gurkan Gokmen, Dan Hicks and Tom Williams.

In a statement, the club said: “Many thanks to everyone that so generously donated and also to those who helped wrap the gifts in preparation for our visit.”
