The new licensee of Colnbrook's Ye Olde George pub is following in her parents' footsteps.

Jenny Burgess, 34, has worked behind the bar at the George for the last two years and jumped at the chance to take it over when invited by Punch Taverns before Christmas after the previous incumbent retired unexpectedly.

She is in familiar territory as her parents have run pubs in Ascot and Sunningdale.

Jenny is mum to five-year-old Oliver.

She said: "I have loved my time working here, getting to know all the locals and am very excited about having my name over the door now.

“Ye Olde George is a pub I feel passionately about. The people who work here are all from the village and I want it to stay as a hub for the community."

The pub has reopened after a £130,500 renovation run in partnership with Punch. It involved a full internal renovation, including the refurbishment of six letting bedrooms on the first floor. The new menu offers a range of traditional value for money pub food with promotional offers throughout the week.

There are new big-screen TVs, which will play all the major sporting fixtures from Sky and BT, alongside a weekly line-up of events and entertainment including karaoke, discos and bands.

Openings Manager for Punch, Andy Killeen said: “Jennifer has made a big impression during the two years that she’s worked at Ye Olde George and I’m sure she will make a great publican."
