A MAN is travelling from Slough to Brighton by scooter in order to raise money for the family of his teenage brother-in-law who is in hospital with cancer.
Ashley Galbraith, 27, of Rockall Court, Langley explained that his 15-year-old brother-in-law, Owen, suffers from Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, and he hopes the money can support Owen’s family while they look after him.
Ashley, who is married to Owen’s sister, Sian Galbraith, said: “His mum and dad can’t work at the moment. This is the third time he’s been diagnosed and it’s hit them hard. He’s in hospital in London and they’re with him 24/7.
“I didn’t have any money to offer them, so I thought I’d start a fundraising campaign to help them out finan-cially so they can spend time with their son.”
Going along with Ashley on his journey are three of his friends and the boys hope to complete the 65-mile journey over just two days.
Ashley said: “My wife bought me the scooter so I could get from A to B, just to the shops or the pub, but I saw this as a chance to use it for something more productive.”
Ashley and his friends will make the journey to Brighton on February 4 and 5 and have so far raised more than £1,100.
