A TERMINALLY ill woman is desperate to have her cats rehomed together to give her peace of mind before she passes away.

The Slough woman, who has not been named, was being treated at Wexham Park Hospital but has since been moved to a palliative care home. She was given just months to live after she was diagnosed with bone cancer and is now searching for the right home for her two cats, Parsley and Harris (pictured).

Helping her out with her dying wish is the Wexham branch of Medivet.

Veterinary nurse Bekki Biasolo described the need for a new home as urgent.

She said: “These cats are this woman’s world. She has no immediate family and this is her dying wish to have these cats go to somewhere suitable together.

“The cats both have slight medical conditions so they need to go to somewhere that can look after them properly.

“We have been looking for a home for the cats for about a month now and she could only have about three months left to live. She’s deteriorated quite quickly.”

If the cats fail to find a new suitable home, they will end up having to be put into care with other cats until the right person comes along, but that is an option which Bekki feels could make things stressful for them both.

She said: “They are both lap cats and are very quiet. They aren’t great in the company of other cats so an environment shared with lots of cats might not be suitable for them.”

“We had some interest from one person who had six cats already and it just wasn’t the right home for them.”

For now the cats are in the care of a neighbour.

But with their owner’s condition worsening, time is running out for them to find appropriate living arrangements.

Medivets are urging anyone who thinks they may be able to help to get in touch.

Bekki said: “If anyone out there thinks they can help us, we’d love to hear from them. They can call us on 01753 550044 or send us an email to wexham@medivet.co.uk.”
