RESIDENTS have been called upon to share their long-term aspirations for their town.
Slough Borough Council have opened a consultation as part of progress towards their new Local Plan for the borough.
An ‘Issues and Options’ document has been drawn up which identifies the dramatic changes and challenges that planners will need to overcome over the next two decades, including the need for 21,000 new homes.
Residents will also be able to voice their concerns over the proposed expansion of Heathrow and the traffic problems that have choked Slough’s town centre.
Councillor Sohail Munawar, leader of Slough Borough Council, said: “Slough is a fantastic place of opportunity. We’re an economic powerhouse, in an excellent location, with a young, vibrant population.
“However, we have mammoth challenges ahead – our population is growing fast and we have a lack of space for new homes and businesses.”
The council hope the feedback received will help them arrive at a set of preferred options to tackle the issues Slough has.
These will also be consulted on before forming the basis of the new Local Plan, which will be used to decide planning applications in the borough for the next 10 to 20 years.
To participate in the consultation, visit slough.gov.uk/localplan from Monday. The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday February 27.
