A YOUNG mum-to-be died suddenly when she was between three and six months pregnant, an inquest learned last Wednesday.
Stephanie Sikazi, 26, of Shackleton Road, Slough, was discovered on August 31 last year when her fiancé returned home from work.
A post mortem revealed that she died from Sudden Arrhythmic Cardiac Arrest Syndrome, commonly known as SADS – a condition that can strike down pregnant women.
Mrs Sikazi had been in good health and was regarded as a low risk pregnancy.
Assistant Berkshire coroner Emma Jones returned a verdict of death by natural causes.
l The British Heart Foundation has been investigating ways of identifying likely victims of SADS so they can be treated in time.
Its website reveals that every week 12 young people die unexpectedly from a heart condition they didn’t know they had – often as a result of SADS.
