LANGLEY Galaxy Reserves boss Danny Bulman was full of praise for his side after they came from behind to beat the first team 2-1 in the Ascot & Fielden Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Bulman told the Observer: “It was absolute ding-dong of a battle with both sides leaving everything on the pitch.

“They got their noses in front in the first-half and could have went in two goals up but missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

“No disrespect, but they’ve been having a tough season and lack the confidence to close out games.

“I said to our lads at half-time if we kept playing the way we were, keep our discipline and be patient, the goals would come, which they did.

“Credit must go to the first team though for the part they played in a cracking match, and also to referee Steve Kolloupis, who did very well to keep all the players on the pitch.”

He added: “We now play East Berkshire League Premier Division leaders Langley in the semi-finals.

“They will be favourites to progress and rightly so with the talented squad they’ve got, some who played step five or six football last season.

“It will be tough but it will be a great experience and learning curve for our young side.”

The first team took the lead on 25 minutes when Mike Gingell flicked a header on from a Jamie Rayner cross which evaded all and nestled in the net.

Kyle Foster missed the chance to double the advantage when he blasted wide from the spot.

The Reserves created numerous chances in the second half but had to wait until the 78th minute to break through when Jake Pollard scored from the edge of the box.

Soon after, Saide Majoub pounced on a defensive mix up to round the keeper and score.
