KAILEB Appleton has won the Home Counties 60kg Cadets title after a unanimous points verdict over George Butcher from The Ring Boxing Club.
Appleton, 14, has been training at Slough Amateur Boxing Club for three years now and has already developed into a fighter with a lot of potential.
His trademark body punches and uppercuts proved too much for Butcher, who resorted to holding for much of the contest, eventually having a point deducted by the referee in the third round.
All three judges agreed that Appleton, from Cippenham, won the fight and he was awarded a unanimous win.
Appleton is now Home Counties champion and waiting to hear who he will face in the next round of the National Cadets Championships.
His coach, Ian Bailey, has described him as “the most dedicated boxer, amateur or professional, I’ve ever met”, and he believes Appleton is already good enough to beat more experienced boxers his age.
