ALMOST 300 people from Slough and South Bucks have gone the extra mile for charity.

On Sunday, March 5 281 people from the area gathered at Black Park Country Park to run, jog or walk a 5 or 10km course in aid of the Stroke Association.

The charity’s Resolution Run raised more than £5,000 and ITV weather presenter and former Slough resident Laura Tobin was amongst the runners.

Slough Observer:

Ms Tobin said: “I was so proud to be part of an incredible group of fundraisers in Black Park on Sunday. Everyone was really going the extra mile for people affected by stroke.

“The Stroke Association is a cause very close to my heart as my grandmother had two strokes before she sadly passed away, and I know all too well how devastating the condition can be.”

All donned in purple, the runners completed the course in one of 31 Stroke Association Resolution Runs happening across the country over the weekend.

The idea of the Resolution Run is to give people a worthy motivation to get fit in the aftermath of the gluttonous Christmas period.

At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and exercising more.
