THE top three pubs in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead have been named this week by members of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The branch pubs of the year were named following a vote for which the best quality of beer was considered.

Taking the top spot was the White Horse in Hedgerley, while the Perseverance in Wraysbury came in second and the Barleycorn in Cippenham came third.

The Perseverance’s landlord Nick Higney said: “We’re delighted to come second and we’d like to thank all of the CAMRA branch members for their support and journeying out as far as Wraysbury to support us.

“We’d also like to congratulate the White Horse and thank them for everything that they do to promote cask ale and keep pubs alive.”

The three will now compete in the regional pub of the year competition along with winners from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, where winners get a chance to compete for the national pub of the year.
