MAIDENHEAD have taken a giant leap towards the South West One East title with a 36-21 win away at Oxford Harlequins on Saturday.

Maidenhead bagged a bonus point win in Oxford while second in the table Old Patesians lost at home to Newbury Blues.

Tom Finnie, Ed Keohane, Scott Prince and Perry Jansen all scored tries for the visitors, who led 24-7 at the half-time interval.

Frank O’Keefe and Finnie touched down after the break, with the later converting 50 per-cent of his conversion attempts.

The results mean Maidenhead are now seven points clear at the top of the table with three matches remaining this season, starting with a visit to Braywick Park from already relegated Reading this Saturday.

Windsor dropped to second bottom after a 24-17 defeat away at Swindon on Saturday.

Just four points separate Windsor from Oxford Harlequins in ninth place and Windsor head to fourth-placed Witney this Saturday.

Drifters have secured promotion from the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier after a 52-14 win against Crowthorne at One Pin Lane.

The result means Drifters will finish second to Swindon College Old Boys, who secured the title with a 69-15 win at Phoenix, and will return to Southern Counties North next season.

Fourth placed Slough did not have a fixture to fulfill last weekend but are away to Abingdon this Saturday.
