LOUISE STANNARD has been crowned Southern Champion at the under-14 National Schools competition for tumbling.
It was the first time that a pupil from St Joseph’s Catholic School competed in the competition and Stannard did so with real focus and composure.
Hosted by Southampton Gymnastics Club, 16 competitors from schools across the South of England performed three different tumbles – straight, twisting and free – on the track in front of three judges.
At the end of several hours of competition, Stannard was announced as the champion and will go on to represent the South of England at the National Schools Final in Stoke-on-Trent on May 6.
