SWAN rescuers have urged the public to be on the lookout after three mother’s eggs were stolen on Sunday - and she was assaulted - on the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal.
The swan and her partner have occupied the Stoke Road basin for years and she is regularly checked by the Friends of Slough Canal and Datchet charity, Swan Support.
But on Sunday afternoon it was discovered that the mother had suffered an injury to her beak and three of her eight eggs has disappeared. She had previously suffered public attacks of stone throwing. Police and the Queen’s Swan Marker have been informed.
It is being reported that there was a mysterious incident where two people had claimed they were taking away some of the eggs to incubate at another location. However this report has not yet been confirmed.
Call Swan Support on 07968 868172 if you notice anything untoward.
