Anger over the way her partner was being treated at work has inspired 31-year-old Kelly Alavoine to team up with her to form their own business.

Miss Alavoine loves her job as a traffic management operator for the company Options Energy, managing temporary traffic lights and road closures across Berkshire, Bucks and London.

But she saw her partner Rachel Lawson, 25, having a terrible time working as a freelance cleaner for different employers who promised work that never came She said: "In the end one lady spoke to her so badly I said 'no-one had the right to talk to her like that'. We both got the hump."

So the two set up their own cleaning business - RK Sparkles. It has been going a week and a half and Miss Lawson has already picked up 13 clients through social media and plain old fashioned leg work.

Miss Alavoine said: "Rachel has been out knocking on doors and handing out leaflets and it has paid off.

"Her niece is helping her out with the jobs she now has and they are concentrating on houses at the moment. But we hope the business will really expand."

Miss Lawson grew up in Eton Wick and is a former pupil at Churchmead School, in Priory Way, Datchet.

She and Miss Alavoine live in Baird Close, Slough.

Miss Alavoine hopes their example will encourage others to try and set up in business for themselves if they are unhappy with their circumstances.
