A shotgun wound to the abdomen killed 48 year old Slough man Wayne Digby in a wooded area off the Colnbrook bypass in the early hours of Monday.

The cause was formally confirmed by police today following a post mortem.

A firearm was earlier recovered by police.

A 72-year-old local man understood to be Reuben Gregory, arrested at the scene on Monday on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail until July 11 while the investigation continues.

A 54-year-old woman, understood to be his sister Kathleen also arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, has now been released without charge. The pair are believed to have lived in a caravan on the site for many years.

A third person arrested in connection with the incident has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary.

Anthony 'Tony' Hearn, 48, from Moreland Close, Colnbrook, was charged with the offence early today and is due to appear at Slough magistrates court.

Residents in the Colnbrook area are advised that police officers will remain on the scene for some time as they continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with any information or concerns is asked to speak to officers at the scene or call the 24-hour police enquiry centre on 101. They can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 The incident occurred in woodland at the side of the bypass opposite the entrance to Imperial Coaches.

The entrance to a pathway into woodland has been cordoned off since then with an officer guarding it, while teams of police worked in the open land at the end of it gathering evidence.

Tributes to Mr Digby, understood to be a father of two, have been appearing on social media.

Cousin Mo Digby-Sheehy posted: "I can't believe I'm not going to see you ever again!!! Why does he keep taking my loved ones!!! Why!

Have we not lost enough already!

Please no more."

Family friend Sarah Aldrich posted: "Such awful news so so sorry for your loss" and Ms Digby-Sheehy replied: "Thanks sweetie. We're all in shock! I can't believe Wayne's gone.💔 "Poor Lisa, Ruth, Tracey and Carol.💔💔💔💔xxxx"
