THE highlight of Colnbrook’s social calendar, its September Apple Fair, has been cancelled this year due to a lack of volunteers.
The Colnbrook Residents’ Association (CRA), which organises the event, said there had not been enough interest leading up to the 2017 event.
This was despite a successful show last summer (pictured) at Colnbrook Recreation Ground.
Chairman of Colnbrook with Poyle Parish Council, Cllr Scott Bryant, said the CRA had issued a call in September and November, asking for more volunteers but no one came forward.
He said: “The last two years small groups have got involved in putting it together. They have now been depleted.”
He said the CRA was now focused on a number of smaller events, including the new CRA ‘Fun Day’ which takes place next Saturday, July 8.
He said: “We are not saying there no event this year, we are saying there is but it is different.”
Cllr Bryant said the Apple Fair had not been cancelled for the foreseeable future and added: “It all depends on getting people together.”
