The Rt Hon Fiona Mactaggart has said good bye to volunteers and members of Slough Labour Party who helped her succeed over the past two decades as MP for Slough. The good bye party took place on Saturday July 1 at Slough Labour Party HQ in High Street, Chalvey.

Miss Mactaggart said: “I couldn’t have done it without you. I have depended on the efforts of others to make Slough a more prosperous and successful place. This is an ambitious town and when we pull together we can achieve a lot.”

“I will miss you but I have always believed you should quit while you’re ahead.”

Christine Hulme, Slough Labour Party Chair said: “Fiona is a great advocate for women’s rights and inspired many women to become active in politics. She will be missed by us in the local party as well as by her parliamentary colleagues.

“Fiona was a confident, positive voice for Slough and will be missed by many individual constituents and voluntary organisations that she has helped over the years. I wish her well for the future and hope she continues to be a strong voice for women in politics.”
