A NEW 180 bed hotel is being proposed near Slough Railway Station - which would see it built between two new tower blocks of private apartments.

Aberdeen Asset Management wants to introduce the ‘landmark development’ on a vacant site in Brunel Way, also known as the Station Square area.

The tower blocks would comprise of 18 and 25 storeys respectively and feature 260 flats, more than half of which would be two-bedroomed.

The company made an initial presentation to Slough Borough Councillors at a meeting of the planning committee on Wednesday.

It says the development would create a new public plaza served by small cafes and stores around the station.

Exton Estates are the developers for the project and the application is yet to be submitted to the council.

An exhibition showing the plans will be held on Thursday, July 13 at The Venue in The Curve, Slough from 2 to 8pm.

Stuart Bedford of Exton Estates said: “The design represents a bold vision and offers the inspirational style of development that we believe Slough seeks to achieve for its future.

“We very much look forward to hearing local people’s views at the exhibition.”

A report to the planning committee added about the scheme “Affordable housing delivery is the subject of ongoing discussion.”

In relation to the hotel it added: “A range of other uses exist on the lower floors that create a new public square including a gym, public house, cycle store, coffee shops, small retail unit, and a business suite as part of the mid-upper market hotel offer which also features conference facilities.

“Overall the design is intended to create a landmark-grade building close to the Heart of Slough sites.”

Aberdeen said the hotel would be the first Village brand hotel in town.
