A FAMILY has spoken of their ordeal after a man sprayed a noxious gas through their window that hospitalised a mother, two daughters, three friends and two neighbours.

A teenager has been convicted under the Firearms Act in connection with the weekend incident in Skydmore Path, Britwell.

Caroline Green, 36, was working in her kitchen at 5.19pm on Sunday while her two daughters, Lily, 15, and Chelsea, 19, were speaking to a group of three friends on their doorstep. At this time, a man wearing dark clothing approached the living room window and sprayed a substance inside from a canister – then fled.

Mrs Green said: “Two of the youngsters started throwing up, and another had a stinging, burning sensation across her skin.

“My youngest daughter’s chest was so tight she couldn’t breath, and had to be given oxygen by the fire service.

“My oldest’s face and eyes were burning, and she had huge stomach pains.”

The police, fire, and ambulance services all attended the scene. As the nature of the gas was unknown, all eight people had to undress and wear robes in their own back garden, as well two neighbours who helped after the attack.

Mrs Green said: “We had to strip down naked, and put these orange suits on to decontaminate.

“We were taken to hospital for ECG and blood tests.”

The nature of the substance has not been confirmed, but Mrs Green believes it was tear gas or pepper spray.

All eight people were found not to have sustained any serious injuries and were released from Wexham Park hospital later that night following treatment.

A 17-year-old man from Slough pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious gas at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

He has been kept in custody until his sentencing.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Samuel French said he hoped the investigation and the defendant’s plea served as a message to anyone who is considering carrying a weapon, that it is not worth the risk and would be dealt with “robustly”.
