THE YEARLY award for the most colourful pub across three villages has been won by the Rose and Crown in Hollybush Hill, Stoke Poges.
The gong, which is granted by the Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural Society, was presented to the proprietors of the Rose and Crown, Sarah Birchill and David Thomas. It is granted only to pubs within the three villages.
Their prize was the JT Ireland Cup, which was donated by a past president of the Horticultural Society.
The Horticultural Society is due to host its 124th Annual Show this Saturday, which will also celebrate the Society reaching 132 years of age.
Sarah Birchill, landlady, said: “We really enjoyed doing all the planting ourselves and we do the dead heading and watering as well, so to win is brilliant and makes our efforts worthwhile.
“We have had so many people stop and photograph the pub, it has been very encouraging.”
The prize will be presented during the annual show on Saturday.
