LONG-SERVING Slough Town physio Kevin McGoldrick has been labelled “one of a kind” ahead of his showpiece testimonial match this Saturday.

McGoldrick will have his 32 years of service with the Rebels rewarded with a friendly match in his honour as Premier League club West Bromwich Albion visit the now-complete Arbour Park Community Sports Stadium (3pm).

Slough Town chairman, Steve Easterbrook told the Observer: “Kevin is affectionately known as “Super Kev” by the Slough fans for good reason.

“He has committed 32 years to the club, Saturday is about saying thank you to him, for his dedication, so we hope that the whole football community will turn out to celebrate with him and fill Arbour Park.

“We’re extremely grateful to West Brom for making this historic day possible. We’re back in Slough and now playing against Premiership opposition. That doesn’t happen everyday.”

Rebels joint-manager Neil Baker added: “Kevin is one of a kind and people will always tell you what a tremendous guy he is.

“He will do anything for anyone and the amount of time he has given Slough Town, the hours he puts in, is tremendous.

“I’ve not met anyone like Kevin in my entire non-league football career and I have been at a lot of clubs and know a lot of people.

“He is battling cancer and seems to be doing very well with that, but still finds the time week in week out to be with us.

“I urge as many people as possible to come out and show their support and give their thanks to Kevin on Saturday.”

A limited number of tickets for the West Bromwich Albion match will be available for purchase at the turnstiles at Arbour Park on Saturday.
