THE sister of former East Berks College student, John Spicer, has led tributes to her brother after he died in a car smash, saying he was the “family joker”.

Mr Spicer, 23, died after his VW Golf was involved in a three-car crash in Winkfield Road, Windsor, at around 10.45pm last Sunday, near St Leonard’s Hill, between the Legoland roundabout and the Prince Albert pub traffic lights. Tributes have been left at the scene.

This week, Sarah Spicer, 21, choked back tears as she paid tribute to her older brother, telling the Observer: “He was always a wind-up, always joking and making everyone laugh. He was just brilliant.”

Mr Spicer, of Blenheim Road, Langley, died at the scene of the crash which involved his black golf, a blue Mercedes and a black Mercedes.

The driver of the blue Mercedes, a man aged 50 from Bracknell, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Three of Mr Spicer’s friends, a woman in the passenger seat and two men in the back seats suffered injuries in the smash.

At least two of them were thought to be still in hospital at the time of going to press.

Mr Spicer’s mum Sarah and dad Andy, of Rambler Lane, Langley, were this week trying to come to terms with the loss of their son who also had a brother James, 19, and four other sisters, Sabrina, 26, Kayleigh, 18, Sophie, 15, and Ashanti, six.

Miss Spicer, a business and management student at Portsmouth University, said: “Mum and dad are being very strong, but it’s difficult. John was always around to make people laugh so it’s just so awful because they can’t laugh now. John would be out all the time to meet people and would come down to me at uni. He loved it, meeting people and partying.”

Mr Spicer’s family said: “He lived in Langley all his life making many friends throughout his school years at Parlaunt Park, Foxborough and later in Desborough Secondary School in Maidenhead. He lived for the moment enjoying life to the full in the fast lane. He had a heart of gold always being there for his family and friends. John boy will be sorely missed by us all and everyone who he ever came to meet.”

Mr Spicer was a former plastering student at East Berks College, Langley.

Principal Kate Webb said: “We are all deeply saddened by the news of John’s death and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. John was popular with his peers. He will be missed.”

Miss Spicer added: “He was just so nice, with friends everywhere.”
