A MAN has been jailed for more than five years after going on a month-long spree of committing burglary, theft and fraud offences.

Andrew Wainwright, 37, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to five offences and was sentenced to five years and two months imprisonment at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 1.

All the crimes took place between May 24 and June 26 this year across Slough, Farnham Royal and Burnham.

Investigating officers PC Ryan Powell, of the iHub at Slough Police Station, and Detective Constable Jagdip Sekhon, of the iHub at Amersham Police Station, said: “Andrew Wainwright committed a number of offences in quick succession, but due to the public’s help, a thorough investigation took place and swift justice followed.

“The offences happened across South Buckinghamshire and Slough, and Wainwright showed clear disregard for the criminal justice system in his series of offending.

"We are pleased with the sentenced handed to Wainwright by the court, and hope this will continue to show that the police will relentlessly investigate any reported crime.”

On May 24 Wainwright stole a bicycle from the Bishop Centre in Taplow before taking a mobile phone from a car in Hedgerley Hill in South Bucks on June 7.

On June 23 he used stolen bank cards belonging to a woman to commit fraud by false representation in Scaffle Road, Slough. The same day he also used stolen bank cards which belonged to a man, to commit fraud by false representation in Sainsbury's, Farnham Road, Slough.

Wainwright also entered a house in Purton Lane, Farnham Royal, and stole £210 in cash.

He was arrested on June 28 and charged the next day. Wainwright was issued with a four year and six month jail sentence for the crimes but as he was already serving a suspended sentence for theft at the time, he was given an additional eight months. His total sentence for all offences was five years and two months.
