ANOTHER fire erupted yesterday at Broom House, Slough, the latest in a string of fires that have occurred at the building.
Fires have been occurring at Broom house for some time now. Although the council identified and moved a suspected perpetrator, the fires have apparently continued. This is the sixth time a fire has erupted at the property.
A sixty-year old man was injured in the fire, which occurred in a bin chute. He tried to tackle the fire himself with a fire extinguisher, and suffered burns to face and smoke inhalation.
The Royal Berkshire fire service was called out to attend the incident, but found that on-site staff had already extinguished the fire. The injured man was treated by the South Central Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the Royal Berkshire Fire Service said: "Since 27 June 2017, RBFRS crews have responded to six fires in the bins at this property.
"RBFRS continues to work with the building owners and Slough Borough Council to support them in preventing fires like these occurring, and to ensure residents and those living nearby know what to do in the event of an incident."
