CHRIS Evans participated in the Windsor Half-Marathon today.

The Radio 2 host crossed the finish line 2 hours and 40 minutes after the race kicked off at 10am today (Sunday).

A number of charities and sports groups participated in the event, including athletes running in aid of Cancer Research UK, the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice, and many more.

The winner of this year's half-marathon was Daniel Jarvis, 21, from Twickenham, who won with a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes. He said: "I've spent the last year running cross-country, and had big problems with my back. Running on the road was much easier, probably why I did a lot better."

The fastest woman was Georgie Bruinvels, 28, from Dorking. She came in eleventh place overall, with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes. She said: "It went really good, I tried to keep my pace consistent."

One man, Jonathan Symmons, 33, from Windsor, raised over £1,300 for Thames Valley Hospice through completing his successful run. He said: "It was hard, the last stretch in particular - you turn the corner and think you're there, but you aren't."
