A KEEN cyclist whose friend died in the care of Thames Valley Hospice will be cycling across Burma to raise money for the charity.
Glenn Flegg, 63, who owns the Flegg and Co estate agents in Slough, and his wife Elaine Flegg, 63, will be undertaking the challenging cycle route across the Southeast Asian nation, that will require them to ride between 70 to 115 kilometers every day throughout the week-long trek.
The fundraiser was inspired by the loss of their friend Neal Wilkins back in 2016, who passed away in Thames Valley Hospice.
Mr Flegg said: “I didn’t realise the Hospice was completely self funded. It costs £7 million every year to run.”
This is not the first fundraiser Glenn and Elaine have undergone – in previous years, they have trekked across Vietnam, the Himalayas, Borneo, the Great Wall of China, and Borneo, among many more, all in aid of various cancer charities.
In Glenn’s most recent trip across the wilderness of Madagascar, he raised over £3,000 towards combating Myeloma. All their trips are self-funded.
