Police have released images of the horrific life-changing injuries suffered by a man in an "unprovoked" attack.

Callum Wade, 22, from Maidenhead, was punched and kicked to the ground by four men, leaving him with fractures to the face and permanent damage in his eye.

He had been with two friends in Charterhouse Street, Islington, London, when his attackers launched the sustained assault in April. His friend, a man in his 20s, was also assaulted but not seriously injured.

Mr Wade sought help at the nearby Fabric nightclub following the incident at 3am on Saturday April 1.

Staff provided first aid and called a taxi which took him to hospital.

Subsequent investigations revealed CCTV footage of three of the four men believed to have been involved in the attack on Callum, although no arrests have been made.

Detective Constable Mark Pinder, who is leading the investigation into the "brutal assault", said: "This was a violent assault which appears to have been launched with no provocation and has left Callum with injuries that will affect him for the rest of his life.

"The level of violence used was shocking and those who carried it out need to be traced before they commit a similar offence.

"I am appealing to anyone who recognises these men to contact police and help bring these violent thugs to justice."

Anyone with information should contact police on 0208 345 0119 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
