A serious house fire in Windsor Road, Slough last night saw three fire engines and several police cars converge on the scene near McDonald's soon after 5pm.
Residents gathered on both sides of the road as the incident was dealt with.
Firefighters were on the scene until 10pm and one room in the house was completely burnt out.
The family that lives in the house was safely out of the house but firefighters rescued a hamster from a front room.
The fire is not being regarded as suspicious.
Thames Valley Police said they had put nearby road closures in place while firefighters were at the scene. They reiterated arson had not been the cause of the fire.
