A TENANT has complained that his housing association refuses to deal with bedbugs and cockroaches infesting his home.

David Rampasard, 53, lives in Foundry Court, Mill Street, Slough, which is managed by A2Dominion.

Mr Rampasard said: “They just don’t seem to understand – we’ve changed beds three times to try and get rid of the bedbugs. The cockroaches are in cavities in the walls, there’s no getting rid of them.

“Several years ago, A2 accepted responsibility and fumigated the house, but two years later, the problems came back and worse. The flat is always really hot, which attracts vermin, especially in the winter.

“A2Dominion says it is responsible for the communal areas only, and refuse to do anything.”

Mr Rampasard became so frustrated that on Friday, October 13, he took books infested with bedbugs to Slough Borough Council’s customer services centre in Landmark Place, High Street, which lead to the office having to be fumigated and Mr Rampasard being escorted out by police.

A spokeswoman for Slough Borough Council said: “His dispute has nothing to do with Slough Borough Council. He is a tenant of A2Dominion.

“He was removed from the building by police, and has been banned from all council buildings for six months. The room had to be fumigated overnight at taxpayer’s expense.

“The council does offer subsidised pest control for bedbugs at £50, which is reduced to £25 for people on certain benefits.”

Mr Rampasard said: “Fumigating one flat will do nothing, the whole building is infested, they’ll come right back. The entire thing needs to be fumigated.”

An A2Dominion spokesman said: “We’re sorry to hear about the potential problem with bedbugs at one of our properties in Slough. Having investigated the issue, we can confirm the issue is confined to one flat, and not a wider problem within the block. We’ve advised the resident on the next steps to take with the local council in order to resolve the problem, and we’ll also continue to monitor the communal areas.”
