THE DEPUTY leader of Slough Borough Council (SBC) has been sacked from her post amid growing tensions at the top of the Labour-led authority.
Cllr Sabia Hussain (Lab, Central) was removed from her post yesterday (Tuesday) by council leader, Cllr Sohail Munawar (Lab, Elliman) who is himself under investigation and suspended from the Labour party.
It comes just a week after Cllr Hussain made a series of serious allegations against interim chief executive, Roger Parkin, who Cllr Munawar was backing to become the permanent chief.
Cllr Hussain had stood up at a public meeting last Monday and claimed Mr Parkin's conduct was incompatible with the post of chief executive and that he faced allegations of bullying. Mr Parkin has refused to comment on the claims but Cllr Munawar himself said there was no evidence to support them.
The latest development also sees Cllr Hussain lose her cabinet portfolio for health and social care.
An SBC spokesperson said no one had currently been appointed as the new deputy leader.
