A SLOUGH woman celebrated her 105th birthday last week.
Elsie Williamson, 105, of Windmill Care Home, Bath Road, received a birthday card from the Queen in recognition of her long life, and a visit from Slough MP, Tan Dhesi.
In the year she was born, 1913, Slough had a population of just 14,000, the motor car was a rare sight on the streets, and the country had yet to suffer from two world wars.
Mrs Williamson celebrated her birthday along with her oldest friend, Pauline, Fr Alistair Stewart from the parish of Upton cum Chalvey, and Richie Robles, the activities co-ordinator of her nursing home.
Richie Robles, 42, of Windsor Road, said: “We made her a cake and sang Happy Birthday for her. Alistair also said a prayer with her.”
