A yellow weather warning has been put in place for Berkshire, so residents are warned to expect snow and wind.

Drivers are being warned to take extra care.

A spokesman from Highways England said: "Our gritting teams have been out treating the roads throughout the day and will continue to spreading salt 24 hours a day to keep the roads moving.

"Drivers should plan their journeys, monitor weather reports and pack a snow kit of blankets, food, water and a shovel if they really need to travel. You should avoid driving during heavy snow if at all possible.

"Our advice is to keep your distance and reduce your speed because, even in conditions that seem normal and when the snow is not settling, it can be slippery if ice patches have formed, or where fresh salt has not been worked into the carriageway."

Snow and ice have caused havoc across the country, but despite a fall in temperature, have largely missed Berkshire and Buckinghamshire so far.

However, this morning is extremely frosty and commuters may see journeys take longer, with temperatures staying at freezing or below today.

There is a weather warning in place for snow tomorrow, from 9am until midnight.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Delays and cancellations to public transport are possible, as are delays to travel on roads; some stranding of vehicles and passengers could also occur. Some rural communities could become cut off. Interruptions to power supplies and mobile phone coverage are also possible."

This morning there has been an 'incident' on the A329 Northbound between Coppid Beach Roundabout and the M4 this morning (6.45am) and two lanes of theM40 at J2 are closed due to an accident.
