A STRANDED driver had to be saved by firefighters last night after his car swerved in the bad weather and ended up crashing into the central reservation.

The Honda had swerved to avoid another vehicle on the Uxbridge Road in Slough while travelling southbound, firefighters said, at around 1am today (Sunday, March 18).

It ended up crashing into the central reservation with a tree landing on the bonnet that stopped him exiting the vehicle from his nearside door.

Firefighters removed the tree from the vehicle, allowing the man to get out of the car, before he was checked by paramedics at the scene. He suffered minor injuries, they said.

A fire spokesman said: "Driving conditions were so bad last night and people were going very slowly.

"We'd remind people when driving today to take care."
