ORGANISERS have had to cancel the town's day of community action – Sadaqa Day – due to the poor weather conditions.

Slough's Sadaqa Day, which is also taking place nationally today (Sunday, March 18), was set to happen at the Stoke Poges Lane Mosque with various community groups coming together to do good deeds including gardening, litter picking, giving refreshments to strangers and providing lunch to the elderly.

But due to the treacherous weather conditions the event, which was set to run from 10.30am until 2pm, has been cancelled.

However, organisers said they would still feed the homeless from around 2.15pm outside St Mary's Church in Church Street, town centre, but had all the volunteers they require to do this – and urged people to avoid unnecessary travel.

Coordinator Raabia Akhter said a new date for the event would be announced in due course.
