THE OUTCOME of a strike action threat-row is yet to be determined.
The union Unite has threatened Slough Borough Council with strike action over the suspension of one of its binmen, Peter Nolan. Unite claims the suspension comes due to Mr Nolan fighting back against managers that expected bin workers to eat while on the road, without access to washing facilities.
The council claims the suspension is due to allegations of bullying by Mr Nolan. It has also said that the majority of its binmen are not members of Unite and it is ‘confident’ it can provide normal bin collections even if the strike goes ahead. Mr Nolan had a formal hearing with the council on Tuesday but the outcome is yet to be announced.
Unite say they will have a ballot for strike action if Mr Nolan is dismissed.
