A COUPLE has won over £21 million in the National Lottery.

Donna Stickley, 48, of Cippenham Slough, and her husband David, 58, have claimed £21,044,592 in the Lotto Rollover jackpot on May 12, with the couple announcing their big win today (Friday).

Their winning lottery ticket had rested at the bottom of Mrs Stickley's handbag for over a week, before Mrs Stickley returned to Casco Supermarket in Slough to purchase a new ticket and check her old one, on May 19.

Mrs Stickley said: "The cashier told me I would have to call Camelot, because I'd won something over £500.

"At the time, I thought it would only be about £1,000 or something. I went back home to check my numbers online and see what I'd won.

"I couldn't quite believe it – at first I thought I'd won £2 million. I rang my husband David at work to tell him the amount, and he said I'd missed a decimal - it was £21 million."

Mr Stickley said: "I said to her, just put it away and we'll deal with it when I'm back home – and I carried on working."

Mrs Stickley continued: "I did some food shopping, watched the Royal Wedding, and tried to keep calm. Later that evening we called Camelot, and they confirmed that we had won. We were shell-shocked, it still really doesn't seem real."

The couple have been together for over 20 years, although they only got married in March this year. The couple, who have no children, plan to use some of the money to help out their elderly parents.
Mr Stickley said: "My mum and her dad are our top priorities. She's 86 and he's 77 – they're comfortable now, but now they can have a real good time."

Despite their enormous windfall, Mr and Mrs Stickley plan to continue working. Mr Stickley works as a aircraft refueller, while Mrs Stickley works as a manager in the engineering firm MacGregor Industries Ltd.

The couple were still not sure how they would spend their money – and said they would need some time to "let the dust settle" and plan it out. Asked if they were planning any charitable endeavours, Mr Stickley said 'people will benefit from it – let's put it like that.'

The newlywed couple said: "Our honeymoon might be a bit more spectacular than we were planning, though."
