Final details of two major plans to regenerate sites in Maidenhead have been unveiled.

Developers Countryside in partnership with the Royal Borough have submitted proposals to redevelop York Road on the edge of the waterway.

The scheme would see 229 homes created, 88 of them affordable.

Included would be 20,000 sq ft of shops, a new home for Maidenhead Heritage Centre and a community space.

It would connect York Road with Nicholsons Centre for pedestrians and cyclists and if planning permission is granted building work could start next spring - with the first homes completed in autumn 2020.

At the same time Developers HUB and landowner Smedvig have submitted plans for the Landing site consisting of six buildings that will deliver 519 homes – some affordable – along with 56,300sq ft of office space and 36,600sq ft of retail, leisure and workspace.

Public feedback which saw 1,500 local people giving their views has led to HUB including a garden square with trees and seating areas that will create a green destination in the heart of Maidenhead. The plans also include car parking and cycle storage.

The site is adjacent to Maidenhead station, where Elizabeth Line trains will arrive in 2019.

Architects Studio Egret West designed the scheme.

The developers are seeking full planning permission for the demolition of the existing buildings on the site and four buildings that will provide 375 homes, a new office building and 23,637 sq ft of retail, office, and leisure space.

They are also seeking outline planning permission for two buildings that will provide a further 144 homes and up to 12,963 sq ft retail, community and leisure space.

Subject to planning, construction is expected to commence in 2019.
