A famous television character will be thanking the volunteers who help out at Windsor's Thames Hospice in person on Monday.

Sue Holderness - best known as Marlene in the legendary TV show Only Fools and Horses - will be awarding long service badges to people from across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire who have volunteered for the charity for 10, 15 or even 25 years.

Miss Holderness, who lives in Windsor and brought up her family in the town, is an 'ambassador' for the hospice which is in Hatch Lane and will soon be moving to bigger premises.

Monday's event is being held at Easthampstead Park in Wokingham. It will begin with tea and cake, followed by speeches from Thames Hospice board and the award ceremony at 3pm.

Fans of Miss Holderness who miss her appearances in Only Fools will soon see her reunited with co-star David Jason in a new series of Still Open All Hours.
