A pharmacist who switched from writing medical books to romantic fiction is about to unveil her sixth paperback.

Kathryn Freeman, who lives in Wraysbury, said: “With two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to bother buying a card again the romance in my life is all in my head.

“Then again, my husband’s unstinting support of my career change goes to prove that love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes can come in many guises.”

She says it was her family’s support that enabled her to make the leap to concentrating on romantic fiction.

Mrs Freeman is a qualified pharmacist whose career moved into medical writing which she would do by day while she wrote romance by night.

She said: “In 2011, backed by my family I left the world of pharmaceutical science to begin life as a self employed writer, juggling the two disciplines of medical writing and romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a hunky hero.”

With the success of her ‘romantic’ books though and the support of her family, she has been able to shift that balance and now spends most of her time writing fiction to satisfy her fans.

Too Damn Nice is Kathryn’s sixth paperback book with multi award winning women’s fiction publisher Choc Lit. It was once shut away in a drawer, discarded by the then novice writer after its hero was labelled ‘too nice.’ But as her experience as a romantic writer grew Mrs Freeman made a discovery.

She said: “I realised I could open up drawers previously slammed shut, revisit old manuscripts, see them with a fresh pair of experienced eyes and rewrite them in a manner I simply lacked the skills to do before. I knew exactly what to do with this one - and hope readers will love the end result.’ Too Damn Nice is available in paperback in book shops and from online retailers from next Tuesday.

Yet another book Oh Crumbs will be available as an eBook from June 12 and can be pre ordered from all eBook platforms.
