Much loved parish councillor Betty Marlow will be everyone's thoughts on Saturday - when a special event in her memory is staged in Horton.

Mrs Marlow served Horton Parish Council both as chairman and clerk.for many years and was made a freeman of the parish shortly before she died two years ago.

She was also awarded a Thames Valley police commendation for helping set up a ‘fun food kitchen’ that brings police and the community together.

She teamed with former head chef turned Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Les Bradfield, to set up the ‘kitchen’ after the success of a banquet they organised at Churchmead School, Datchet.

During her lifetime it reached out to more than 4,500 people through youth and community groups.

The celebration of her life will begin at noon on Horton Memorial Green followed by afternoon tea at Champney Hall.

The event has been organised jointly by the Parish Council and by the Champney Hall Management Committee.
